Missions and Missionaries We Support
Forestview support four Missionary families who are growing God’s Kingdon here on earth by spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ in each of the regions where they operate: The Potma Family, The DeHoog Family, The Allison Family, The Smit Family.
CAMP SHALOM – Countryside Camp
Camp Shalom in Cambridge, ON is a Christian youth summer camp offering both kids’ camps and special needs’ camps. For over 40 years Camp Shalom has been a meeting place for friends and family to have fun and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
CHRIST COMMUNITY CHURCH – Welland
Christ Community Church is a part of the Reformed Church in America that Forestview supports as a Welland area Church plant. CCC’s Vision is to see Christ’s power made perfect in weakness in Welland by growing by God’s Grace Beyond Brokenness. There is an active daycare center within the church building called 7 C’s.
Clarity Pregnancy Options is a faith-based non-profit organization. They help women explore the facts about their options relating to unexpected pregnancies, empower women to make confident & informed choices with follow up care, and equip families with the resources
they need to thrive.
Insight Biblical Counselling supports and equips people with practical biblical training. Their mission is to help people find hope and healing through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Which they achieve through individual and group counselling sessions but also through educating others to mentor and disciple through internships, training courses and seminars for those facing Crisis Pregnancy and to offer Biblical Counselling.
YWCA WEST NIAGARA AFFORDABLE HOUSING (formerly GAHP)
The YWCA Niagara Region partners with West Niagara Affordable Housing (YWCA WNAH) to provide transitional supportive housing to individuals or families within West Niagara. The goal of YWCA WNAH is to lead individuals to self-sufficiency within the time frame of one to three years.
Grimsby Life Centre Ministries is a vibrant, visible, Christian organization caring for families and individuals by offering help and hope in the region of Grimsby. They provide practical and compassionate care, guidance and support for the needs of the individuals they serve.
International Needs Canada (IN Canada) has been working to free children, families and communities from the cruelty of poverty and injustice. Forestview’s international focus is with IN Canada’s partner in Uganda where Forestview sponsors 8 children while over 50 more are sponsored directly by individual members of the congregation. Since 2011, members of Forestview, have visited Uganda multiple times to participate in and conduct training sessions and have helped to grow the knowledge of the challenges and needs.
Living Rock Ministries has been a safe place of community and support for youth-at-risk for more than 30 years. Annually, Living Rock responds to over 32,000 visits, providing essential supports to one of Hamilton’s most vulnerable populations: youth between the ages of 13-25, who are affected by significant risk factors such as loss of family, poverty, substance misuse and mental health. These youth need support to navigate the social systems to find ways to meet their basic needs of food, education and shelter.
Micah House welcomes newly arrived refugee claimants to Hamilton with God’s love by providing safe shelter, assistance with settlement and passages into the community.
Christian faith is expressed in regular prayer and reliance on God in every circumstance based on his Word. Individuals are respected based on the belief that each person is created in the image of God. Micah House helps refugee claimants by providing specific assistance to bring direction and hope to their circumstances.
Forestview is an Area Collection Centre for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child brings joy and the message of Christmas to suffering children all over the world with the delivery of over 5 million gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 95 countries. Boxes are made available to anyone or organization that wishes to participate. The boxes can then be filled and returned to Forestview.
Teen Challenge is a residential alcohol and drug addiction faith-based program with centres located in Alberta, Atlantic Canada, Saskatchewan and Ontario. They offer help and hope to those struggling with alcoholism and/or addiction to other drugs. They believe that God is the catalyst for change for people with life-controlling drug and alcohol problems.
Words of Hope’s mission is to build the church in the hard places by equipping indigenous Christian churches and ministries to proclaim the gospel, especially through the use of media. They focus on areas that are hard to reach with the gospel, either because of poverty, geography, or social antagonism toward Christianity.
Restorations is one of the RCA’s new global mission initiatives. It is a charitable organization that exists to provide specialized, holistic, long-term care to victims of commercial sexual exploitation in Canada.
